Big Bag Handling
Top Discharge Stations
Partial emptying of big bags is a challenge as it is usually not feasible to quickly re-close the big bag when the discharge spout is full of product.
Iris valves or similar devices could be used for this purpose, but product must be flowing in order to have the possibility to re-seal the spout which prevents any accurate dosing.
Dec has solved this problem by developing an automated discharge station where big bags are emptied from the top by using a suction lance connected to the PTS Powder Transfer System®.

The lance is automated without operator intervention and enables to withdraw from the FIBC the exact quantity of powder required when the station is installed on load cells. After the transfer, the big bag can be easily closed and removed from the station and a new product can be dispensed by using the same station. The system comprises tensioning device to stretch the big bag during emptying to allow full discharge and side massage to deagglomerate the product and avoid bridging inside the big bag. Depending on product toxicity, different docking systems can be used from a single tube with inflatable seal for non-potent materials to a DCS® Drum Containment System for OEB 4 product. The station is also very compact and requires much lower height compared to standard discharging stations.FeaturesPartial discharge of big bags with dosing possibilitiesVarious docking heads depending on powder toxicity up to OEB 4Various construction materialsCIPOptionsWeighing systemPneumatically operated massaging units (side)Delumper suction lance for lumpy product
